Why we will not tell you what is in Original

The legal declaration is printed on every can. The flavor is not. One is a requirement, the other is a decision and this is the reasoning behind it.

Every soda on the shelf beside us leads with its ingredient list. Botanically brewed. Real ginger. Fourteen herbs. Cold-pressed. The list is the pitch.

We went the other way, and it was not a marketing decision. It was a product one.

A flavour you can name is a flavour you finish

The moment a drink can be described accurately in three words, it has a ceiling. You know what it is. You know whether you want it. You have already decided, and nothing about the second sip will change your mind.

The drinks that outlive their category are the ones that resist that. You taste them, you reach for a word, and the word is not there. So you drink more, looking for it. That is not a trick it is a formulation problem, and it is much harder than making something taste good.

What we will say

There is a cola base underneath Original. There is a great deal that is not cola. There is a note that arrives at the very end that most people do not identify, and we would rather they did not.

That is the whole disclosure. The legal declaration is printed on every can, as it must be. What we will not do is translate that list into a tasting note and hand you the answer.

Everything else is named plainly

Passion Mojito is passion fruit, lime and mint. Ginger is ginger, citrus peel and a dry finish. No mystery, no theatre.

That is deliberate. A brand where everything is cryptic is a brand hiding behind copywriting. The silence only carries weight if it happens once, in one place, on purpose.

DR KRATOS
